Just Sitting

Hi. Today was another busy day. Just made it home from work and I'm just sitting. I have many things I need to do but still ... I'm just sitting.

Sitting in my chair with my mind racing and trying to make sense of everything around me. Sometimes sitting can be a good thing. We sit and talk with family and friends. We sit while we watch a good movie or read a good book. We sit and rest after a long day.

But there are also times that sitting can be a hindrance. There are times in life that just sitting will not do. We must take a stand and move forward. God has a plan and purpose for each of us. Sometimes He may want us to sit and rest in Him but other times He wants us to take a stand knowing who we are in Him.

Let's all move forward listening for His voice, seeking His face and obeying. God is always good and He will always work all things together for our good.

Love you!!!

What now?

Why do we breathe? Our bodies need it. Why do we eat? Our bodies need it. Why do we sleep? Our bodies need it. Our physical body has many needs that must be met in order to function and survive.

Why do we pray? Our spirit man needs it. Why do we read the word? Our spirit man needs it. Why do we listen to hear God's voice? Our spirit man needs it. Our spirit man has many needs that must be met in order to function and survive.

There will always be things that will drive us, that will pull us, that will distract us from the call that God has on our life. We must remember to stay focused on the call but even more important we must stay focused on the caller.

God is the only one that can show us the way. He will always have a plan and purpose that will work together for our good. We must trust Him. We must be still and know that He is God.

Allow God to work and to bring forth those plans and purposes He ordained from the beginning of time. God will never disappoint. He will bring peace and blessing.

So continue (or begin) today to ask Him what next. Listen for His voice and follow.

God is good.

Hi

Hi. Hope all is well with you. Life is busy here with work, family, etc. The days continue to pass and now May is a few days away. Choices abound for all of us everyday. We choose to get out of bed and go. We choose how to spend our time, what we listen to, what we say... God gives us free choice. As I sit here, my body is tired ... so tired that I don't want to put forth effort to get ready for bed. I know that I need to get up but still I sit.

Sometimes that is what we do in our walk with God. We know what we need to do but still we sit... What is the one thing that God has placed on your heart to do? Do it with all of your might. The word says David danced with all of his might as the Israelites brought the ark to Jerusalem. May we do all things unto God will all of our might. Know that God's purposes for us are mighty and true. Seek Him and follow. Our God is good, Our God is holy, Our God is just.

Know that you are loved with an everlasting love.

God Bless!

Psalm 91:4

Psalm 91:4 - "He will cover you will his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge ..."

I have a calendar devotional on my desk at work. Psalm 91:4 was my verse for yesterday. After reading it, I immediately wanted to share with you. As I sat down to write this blog, I opened my Bible to Psalm 91:4. I did not have to turn a page. That brought a smile to my face. God is so good.

So what does He want to tell us today ... God is our protector and He will always be our place of refuge. This world is shaking (literally if you've seen the news about the earthquake in Chile this morning) and every foundation is being tested. We must make sure that our foundation is based on Christ and Him alone.

Years ago, when I told my son that he had cancer, his response was NO FEAR. That is what God is telling us today. NO FEAR. He is in control. No matter what we hear ... HE IS IN CONTROL. Continue to seek HIM. Continue to know that HE IS GOD. He told Moses to tell the Israelites that He is I AM. That is who God is today. I AM ... your healer, your refuge, your strong tower ... I AM all that you need.

Let us continue to seek God whole heartedly. Keep listening and keep breathing.

Waiting on the World to Change #2

Change ... Some look forward to it. Others dread change. How do you deal with change? I was talking with someone earlier today that had just lost their mom in an accident. I shared with that person that I had lost a son years earlier and had to learn a new normal ... a new way of living. My son's death changed my world (rocked my world too). It took me a while to adjust to that change in my life but with God's help, I was able to learn a new normal. My family of four became a family of three.

Sometimes change is not so drastic. It may be a new job, new home, etc. We adjust and continue with life.

Let me ask you a question ... Have you changed lately? On the inside? Are you allowing God to work in your life ... to show you areas that He wants to change in your life. I realize more and more each day that God is good and He is merciful. I also realize that if I want to grow closer to Him, I must be willing to change ... to allow Him to show me those things that stop me from growing spiritually ... that stop me from knowing Him more and more.

There is so much more that God wants to do in our lives. Let's stop putting the brakes on the changes God wants to make in us and start listening for that still small voice that will lead the way. Know that the only thing that stops us from drawing closer to GOD is us.

Remember ... breathe ... and know that the best is yet to come.

Waiting on the World to Change #1

Think about that ... Waiting on the World to Change. I'll be back with more later.

Hello again

Hey everyone. Happy Valentine's Day. Sorry for the delay in posting. Life gets busy and the day is over before you know it. I'll try and do better in the future. Lessons learned or reinforced in the last week ... God is faithful and true. God is bigger than we can imagine or think. We can trust HIM no matter what. We must keep the faith. Don't give up. Keep on even when everything around you says no. The answer is on the way.

Trust

Good morning and Happy Friday. Blog #5.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Ponder those words today. Trust Him totally. He is in control. :)

Living

Good morning. Blog #4 ... It is now 7:25 a.m. and I'm about to dash out the door. I sit here pondering what I should write and realize that I have nothing. Sometimes its okay to just be. We don't always need to have the answer. As people (especially women), we like to fix things. Women are perpetual fixers. Whatever we see, we try and fix ... Things around the house, people, the list can go on and on. Let's take a break today from trying to fix things and allow God to show us what HE wants to fix. We will be very surprised what we hear when we slow down enough listen. Hope your day is great. :)

Mondays ...

Good morning. Happy Monday. Blog #3 ... What to say ... My mind is a whirlwind this morning. There are so many things that need to be done, so many things I want to do and so on. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. This life we live is very busy. We spend time planning the day and then do something totally different. That is how the Christian life can be. We plan our walk ... Yes, God has called me to do this ... Yes, God answered my prayer and I must do things the same way for Him to answer again ... Yes, Yes, Yes ... What am I saying here? We must not put God in a box. We must be open to what He has in store for us. It may be the plan for the day gets thrown out the window because a friend needs someone to talk to or the kids/grand kids need extra play time with you. It may be the call you have so diligently served over the years is changing. God may be whispering to your Spirit to get ready for what is next ...

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Be open to the plans God has for you. Know that His plans are always perfect.

I'm off to work. Have a great day!

My faith shall be my eyes ...

Good morning and Happy Friday. Blog post #2 ... Usually I'm struggling to get out the door each day for work but today I'm ready and have fifteen minutes before I need to leave. Isn't God amazing? He always makes a way.

"My faith shall be my eyes ... " is a verse in the song "I Will Rise" by Chris Tomlin. Great song. Great CD. That verse has stayed with me over the months ... think about it. My faith shall be my eyes. How many of us can say that is true? We want it to be true but so many times we allow our circumstances to determine our faith. God says look to ME. Have faith in ME. I will get you through no matter what you see with your natural eyes ... We must look through our eyes of faith. Trusting God NO MATTER WHAT!!!

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 says "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our EYES not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." Let's do that today. Let's practice seeing with eyes of faith. When the enemy tries to distract you, say NO. I'm going to see things God's way today. Let's also have an eternal perspective. Our troubles are light and momentary when we think of eternity.

Hebrews 12:2 - "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." That is how our faith shall be our eyes. When we keep our eyes firmly fixed on JESUS.

I hope your Friday is extra special. Remember you are the apple of HIS eye. :)

Why blogging?

Hi! Welcome to "Remembering to Breathe ..." Why that name? Sometimes life can be so overwhelming that we need to take a break and just breathe. A little bit about me. I'm a wife and mother, full time employee, involved in church, etc. Life is busy (sometimes too busy). In the midst of those busy times I remember advice that was given to me years ago ... to just breathe. I know that can be hard when you are trying to meet a deadline, (I can tell this is going to be hard. I'm wanting to go back and edit what I've typed so far.) you don't think you have a minute to spare or you just don't know what to do next. Sometimes we need to step back and ask God if we are on the right track or to just give us a moment of peace. We need to just breathe. God is always available to His children. Know that you are precious to Him.

Back to the title of this post ... Why blogging? I don't know. I watched a movie a few weeks ago and the main character started a blog. I thought about it briefly and then the other day the idea to start my own blog rose in my spirit. God placed a friend in my path that showed me how to set up a blog and here we are. I think God has plans for this ... Not sure what but I'm trying to follow His lead.

In the days ahead if you see a typo or I seem to be rambling, I probably will be. I'm going to try my best and not edit every line or examine every word I use. My main objective is to encourage and remind you that God is on your side. To remind you how precious you are ... to God and to others.

Just know it is my heart's desire to serve God wholeheartedly. I'm not sure exactly how a blog works but I think you can post comments. Feel free to share. I'm going to close for now. I'll see you soon. Keep your eyes on the prize (JESUS).
